Hyundai initiates action against spurious parts sellers in DelhiThe Economic Offences Wing, Crime Branch, and the Delhi Police in a combined operation cracked down on unauthorized storing, manufacturing and selling of counterfeit automotive spare parts of the automobile major, the Hyundai Motor Company. This is the first of its kind of action initiated by the Hyundai Motor Company to check the activities of unscrupulous traders and manufacturers of spurious auto parts using the Hyundai brand logo and trademark.
In a simultaneous raid conducted on 26th February 2010 on two shop premises at India’s largest motor market, Kashmere Gate and one factory premises at Vishnu Nagar, counterfeit goods were seized by the police authorities which were bearing Hyundai Logo.
The owners of the two shops and one factory owner has been arrested by the police and remanded in police custody till further orders of the Court. Criminal proceeding will start against the sellers and manufacturers of these spurious parts after they are produced in court.
Hyundai Mobis, which is responsible for all Service Parts supply for Hyundai Motor Co. and Kia Motor Co will continue to initiate these activities globally and in the Indian market also where manufacture and sale of counterfeit parts is very prevalent. This action has been initiated by Hyundai in an effort to safeguard the interest of Hyundai owners and ensure that Hyundai Car Owners have access to genuine parts and continue to enjoy quality spare parts which guarantee the promised service.
It is expected that such action will deter the spurious parts manufacturers and sellers and ensure that customers get only genuine parts at a reasonable price. Hyundai along with Mobis and the local law enforcement agencies will continue this campaign against spurious parts sellers, stockists and manufactures in other Indian cities as well.
